The Rochester Public Market
On June 16, 2018 WXXI published the article The Rochester Public Market - impressions from a first-timer. This was my first piece ever published publicly. WXXI is the Rochester local news station. In the spring 2018 semester, my journalism class partnered up with them. The purpose was to further develop the journalism skills learned in the first level of this course and
to become more in touch with the community. We worked with a reporter from WXXI in our class directly with the possibility of an article being published on their website. So I would pitch my idea of what I was thinking and how I wished the article would look. Once it was approved, I would start the process of gathering information, conducting interviews, and
taking photos. My pitch that was published was a first person account of what the public market was like. While not originating from the Rochester area, this gave me a better look inside the community. There were a few bumps along the way but I managed to have an insightful experience.
